Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-89214 identifies a SQL injection vulnerability in the WpCues Basic Quiz WordPress plugin through version 1.6.5. The vulnerability arises because the plugin does not properly sanitize and escape user-supplied values before incorporating them into SQL statements. This allows unauthenticated attackers to perform SQL injection attacks, which can lead to unauthorized data disclosure from the database.

Potential Impact

An attacker who exploits this vulnerability can perform SQL injection attacks without authentication, potentially allowing them to read sensitive information stored in the database. This can lead to data leakage and compromise of the confidentiality of the affected system's data.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, users should consider disabling or removing the vulnerable plugin version to prevent exploitation.
