A fix is available that clears the trailer_buf pointer after it is freed to prevent the double-free. Users should apply the official patches or updates provided by their Linux distribution or kernel vendor to remediate this issue.
Description
A double-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's orangefs component was fixed. The flaw occurs during a readdir downcall when a failure in copying data leads to the trailer_buf pointer being freed twice, causing a deterministic double-free. This can be triggered by a client sending a malformed readdir downcall with an incorrect trailer_size. The issue has been resolved by clearing the pointer after freeing it to prevent the second free operation.
