AI-suggested

A fix is available and has been applied in the Linux kernel. The vulnerability is resolved by rejecting Read lists that exceed the page budget at decode time. Users should update to a fixed Linux kernel version that includes the patches identified by the commit hashes in the established facts. No additional mitigation is required beyond applying the official fix.

Description

CVE-2026-89528 is a high-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel's svcrdma component where the system fails to properly reject Read lists that exceed the allocated page budget. This can lead to a NULL pointer dereference during DMA mapping, causing a denial of service. The flaw arises because multiple Read segments can cumulatively exceed the rq_pages array budget, bypassing runtime guards. The issue has been fixed by validating the total page count across all Read segments at decode time and rejecting messages that would overflow the page budget.
