AI-suggested
A fix is available that modifies the svcrdma module to reject inline replies that exceed the pull-up buffer size and fail the request gracefully rather than dropping the connection. Users should apply the official kernel updates that include this fix. Since this is a Linux kernel vulnerability, remediation involves updating to a patched kernel version. No additional mitigations are specified beyond applying the official fix.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's svcrdma module allows an RPC-over-RDMA client to cause a buffer overflow by sending inline replies that exceed the pull-up buffer size. This occurs when the reply requires more scatter/gather entries than the device's Send Queue supports, leading to memory corruption and potential device reads beyond mapped memory. The flaw was addressed by modifying the pull-up check to reject replies too large to fit the buffer and fail the request gracefully instead of dropping the connection.
