A fix has been implemented in the linux-aws kernel versions listed as affected. Users should upgrade to a patched version to resolve this issue. Since this is a resource leak, no additional mitigation steps are indicated beyond applying the official fix.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's device mapper era (dm-era) component causes a metadata block leak when a snapshot operation fails. Specifically, if certain internal functions fail during the snapshot process, a newly allocated shadow block is not properly released, resulting in a permanent leak of one metadata block per failure. This issue has been resolved in specific linux-aws kernel versions.
