A fix is available that changes __unmap_hugepage_range() to check the mapcount before adjusting reservations. Users should apply the updated Linux kernel versions listed as affected to remediate this vulnerability.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's hugetlb subsystem was resolved that could cause an underflow of the reserved count during unmapping of huge pages when a folio is mapped in both a parent and child process. This occurs if the parent unmaps the range first, leading to incorrect reservation adjustment. The issue is fixed by checking the mapcount before adjusting the reservation in __unmap_hugepage_range().
