AI-suggested
A fix for this vulnerability has been implemented in the Linux kernel. Users should apply the official kernel updates that include this patch. Since this is a kernel-level issue, updating to the patched kernel versions is the recommended remediation. No additional mitigations are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's NFS server code (nfsd) could cause improper handling of directory entries (dentries) during file creation, potentially leading to use-after-free conditions. This occurs when the dentry_create() function returns a different dentry than expected, which might cause the system to free and later dereference an invalid dentry. The issue has been fixed by adjusting the timing of the fh_compose() call to ensure it is only invoked once the final dentry is confirmed.
