AI-suggested
A fix is available that properly restricts operations allowed after a FOREIGN PUTFH to prevent NULL pointer dereference. Users should apply the official Linux kernel updates that address this issue. Since this is a kernel vulnerability, upgrading to a patched kernel version is the recommended remediation. No additional mitigations are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's NFS server (nfsd) allows a remote client to cause a NULL pointer dereference in the nfsd kernel thread when CONFIG_NFSD_V4_2_INTER_SSC is enabled. This occurs because certain operations after a FOREIGN PUTFH are not properly blocked, leading to a NULL dereference. The issue is fixed by restricting operations allowed after a FOREIGN PUTFH to prevent this condition.
