A fix is available for this vulnerability. Users should apply the official patches provided for the affected linux-azure kernel versions to remediate the issue. Since this is a kernel-level flaw, updating to a patched kernel version is the recommended mitigation.
Description
A use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's RapidIO mport character device interface has been resolved. The flaw occurs in dma_req_free() where a freed object is dereferenced after releasing the last reference, leading to potential memory corruption. This vulnerability is reachable from userspace via the RapidIO interface and affects specific linux-azure kernel versions. The issue has been fixed by caching references before releasing them and clearing pointers appropriately.
