AI-suggested
A fix for this vulnerability is available in the Linux kernel. Users should update to a patched kernel version that includes the fix for CVE-2026-89744. Since this is a kernel-level issue, applying the official kernel update from the vendor or distribution is the recommended remediation.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's device property handling caused an infinite loop in the function fwnode_for_each_child_node() when iterating over children of a fwnode with a secondary fwnode that has multiple children. This infinite loop occurs because the function fwnode_get_next_child_node() incorrectly returns the first child of the primary fwnode instead of NULL when processing children of the secondary fwnode. This flaw has been fixed by adding a dynamic check of the parent fwnode before calling get_next_child_node().
