AI-suggested
A fix for this vulnerability has been implemented in the Linux kernel. Users should apply the official kernel updates that include this patch. Since this is a kernel-level issue, updating to a patched kernel version is the recommended remediation. Patch status is not explicitly confirmed in the provided data; therefore, check the vendor advisory or distribution-specific security updates for the exact fixed versions.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's memory control group (memcg) subsystem could cause a reclaim operation to loop indefinitely when memory limits are updated concurrently through separate open files. This occurs because the reclaim loop uses a stale target limit if another writer raises or removes the limit during the operation. The issue was discovered through automated testing and is fixed by checking the current limit at each reclaim iteration and stopping if it no longer matches the writer's target.
