A fix is available that properly validates the ef->size field to ensure it covers the entire EA record including the name and value lengths. Users should apply the official Linux kernel updates for the affected versions to remediate this vulnerability.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's NTFS3 filesystem driver allows a crafted extended attribute (EA) record with an undersized ef->size to cause an out-of-bounds read. This occurs because the code does not properly validate that ef->size covers the record's name and value lengths, leading to a heap memory leak to userspace via getxattr().
