AI-suggested
A patch has been applied to fix the infinite loop by correcting the threshold doubling logic in kdamond_merge_regions(). Users should update to patched kernel versions to resolve this issue. Since this is a kernel-level bug, applying the official kernel updates from the vendor is the recommended remediation.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's DAMON subsystem (mm/damon/core) could cause an infinite loop in the kdamond_merge_regions() function due to an integer overflow in the loop's threshold calculation. This occurs only under unrealistic user configurations involving very large aggregation intervals and many non-contiguous regions. The issue has been fixed by correcting the loop break condition to prevent threshold overflow and infinite looping.
