A fix is available that rejects requests where the declared count does not fit within the fixed buffer size. Users should apply the official patches or updates that address this boundary check issue in the qla2xxx driver. Since this is a Linux kernel vulnerability, ensure the kernel is updated to a version where this issue is resolved.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's qla2xxx SCSI driver allows user-supplied input to specify a count value that exceeds the fixed buffer size in the qla2x00_update_fru_versions() function. This leads to reading beyond the intended stack buffer and leaking adjacent kernel stack memory to the device. The issue arises because the count is unchecked against the buffer capacity, causing out-of-bounds memory reads.
