AI-suggested
A fix is available that changes the buffer allocation to dma_pool_zalloc() in all affected FRU/I2C handlers, ensuring the DMA buffer is zeroed before use. Users should apply the official patches or update to fixed kernel versions to remediate this issue. Patch status is not explicitly confirmed in the provided data; check vendor advisories for current remediation guidance.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's scsi qla2xxx driver involves the FRU and I2C bsg handlers using a DMA buffer that is not fully zeroed before use. This can cause stale kernel heap memory to be written to device flash due to a user-controlled length value overriding the initialized buffer size. The issue affects specific Linux kernel versions and has been resolved by zeroing the DMA buffer allocation.
