AI-suggested
A fix is available that properly resets the kthread_vid_cap pointer to NULL on failure, preventing kernel crashes and incorrect streaming behavior. Users should apply the official patches or updates provided for the affected Linux kernel versions to remediate this issue.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's media video-i2c subsystem was resolved. The issue involved an error pointer left in the kthread_vid_cap variable when kthread_run() failed, causing subsequent calls to start_streaming() to incorrectly report success without starting the capture thread and calls to stop_streaming() to attempt stopping an invalid thread, leading to kernel crashes.
