AI-suggested
A fix is available that prevents the preempt count underflow by returning immediately when no active Kprobe is detected. Users should apply the official kernel updates that include this patch. Since this is a kernel-level vulnerability, upgrading to patched kernel versions is the recommended remediation. No additional mitigations are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's LoongArch architecture allows a preempt count underflow due to improper handling of breakpoint instructions. This flaw can cause the kernel to misinterpret execution context, leading to incorrect socket cgroup attribution and potential bypass of BPF cgroup socket creation policies. The issue arises when a userspace breakpoint triggers a handler path that decrements the preempt count without a corresponding increment, causing in_interrupt() to return true erroneously until the task schedules.
