AI-suggested

A fix has been implemented to correct the memory range merging logic in the Linux kernel. Users should apply the official kernel update that includes this fix once available.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's powerpc/kexec_file component causes incorrect merging of overlapping memory ranges. This flaw leads to truncation of valid memory ranges in the kexec exclude lists, potentially allowing the crash kernel to overwrite active memory and cause data corruption or system crashes. The issue arises from improper comparison and update logic in the __merge_memory_ranges() function. A fix has been implemented to correct the range merging logic.
