A fix is available that removes the new_device attribute at the start of i2c_del_adapter(), preventing the use-after-free race and ensuring proper client cleanup. Users should apply the official kernel updates containing this fix for the affected Linux kernel versions.

Description

A use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's i2c core debugfs implementation was resolved. The issue occurs because i2c_del_adapter() frees the adapter's debugfs directory before unregistering the adapter device, leaving a writable sysfs attribute that can race with removal operations. This race can lead to a use-after-free condition when debugfs_create_dir() is called with a freed pointer. Additionally, clients created after deregistration may never be unregistered, causing wait_for_completion to hang. The fix involves removing the new_device attribute early in i2c_del_adapter() to prevent this race and ensure proper cleanup.
