A fix is available that corrects the GFP flags passed during memory allocation in the affected kernel functions. Users should apply the official patches or update to fixed kernel versions to remediate this issue.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's memory policy subsystem was fixed to prevent a sleeping allocation in an atomic context. The issue involved the alloc_pages_bulk_weighted_interleave() function hardcoding GFP_KERNEL flags during memory allocation, which could cause a kernel crash (splat) when called from invalid contexts such as atomic or RCU read-locked sections. This flaw was resolved by correctly passing GFP flags to kmalloc() instead of hardcoding GFP_KERNEL.
