A fix for this vulnerability has been implemented in the Linux kernel by modifying the f_midi2_free_ep_reqs() and f_midi2_alloc_ep_reqs() functions to safely handle uninitialized endpoints. Users should update to a kernel version that includes this fix. Patch status is not explicitly stated in the input data; therefore, check the vendor advisory or Linux kernel updates for the official fixed versions and apply them accordingly.
Description
A null-pointer dereference vulnerability in the Linux kernel's USB MIDI 2.0 gadget function (f_midi2_free_ep_reqs) has been fixed. The issue occurs when cleaning up an endpoint that was never initialized, leading to a crash. This happens specifically when configuring the MIDI 2.0 gadget with the block direction set to input, causing the midi1_ep_out endpoint to be skipped during initialization. The fix replaces an unsafe dereference with a safer check of the number of requests, preventing the crash.
