A fix is available that corrects the initialization of ci_range.vpi_bits and ci_range.vci_bits to valid values. Users should update to a Linux kernel version that includes this fix. Since this is a kernel-level issue, applying the official patch or upgrading the kernel is the recommended remediation.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's USB ATM driver (usbatm) was fixed to correct an invalid initialization of ci_range fields. The issue involved the ci_range.vpi_bits and ci_range.vci_bits being set to a sentinel value (-1) instead of valid bit counts, causing undefined behavior due to negative bit shifts. This was detected by syzbot as a shift-out-of-bounds error. The fix initializes these fields to valid values (8 for vpi_bits and 16 for vci_bits) consistent with ATM UNI cell header specifications.
