AI-suggested

A fix has been applied to the Linux kernel to guard against NULL dereference in the octeontx2-af NIX TM tree debugfs read path. Users should update to a kernel version that includes this fix. Since this is a kernel-level issue, applying the official kernel update from the vendor or distribution is the recommended remediation. No additional mitigations are indicated.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's octeontx2-af component causes a NULL pointer dereference in the NIX TM tree debugfs read path. Specifically, the function rvu_dbg_nix_tm_tree_display() dereferences pfvf->sq_ctx without verifying if the SQ context is allocated. Accessing /sys/kernel/debug/octeontx2/nix/tm_tree for a NIX LF with uninitialized transmit queues triggers a kernel oops. The issue is fixed by adding a guard that returns an error when sq_ctx is NULL.
