A fix has been implemented in the Linux kernel Bluetooth driver btmtksdio that addresses the out-of-bounds DMA read by padding the buffer and adjusting the length accordingly. Users should apply the official kernel updates that include this fix. Since this is a kernel-level vulnerability, upgrading to patched kernel versions is the recommended remediation.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's Bluetooth driver (btmtksdio) allows an out-of-bounds DMA read in the transmit path. The issue arises because the transfer size is rounded up to the SDIO block size, but the data buffer length is not correspondingly padded, causing the controller to read uninitialized memory beyond the valid packet data. This can lead to leakage of uninitialized memory contents over the SDIO bus. The flaw has been fixed by ensuring the buffer is padded with zeros and the length updated accordingly before transmission.
