AI-suggested
A fix has been implemented in the Linux kernel for the irqchip/renesas-rzg2l driver to address this race condition. Users should update to kernel versions that include this fix. Since this is a kernel-level issue, applying the official kernel updates from the vendor or distribution is the recommended remediation.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's irqchip/renesas-rzg2l driver caused loss of interrupts due to a race condition in clearing interrupt status bits. The issue arises because the driver used a read-modify-write operation on write-0-to-clear registers, which could inadvertently clear interrupts that had not yet been serviced. This was fixed by changing the code to write back only the bit being cleared, preserving other concurrently set interrupt bits.
