A fix is available that rejects negative power cap writes with an invalid argument error. Systems should apply the updated Linux kernel versions that include this fix to prevent invalid power limit settings. Valid positive power cap writes continue to function normally.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's AMD HSMP hwmon interface allowed negative values to be written to the power cap setting, which were incorrectly converted to large unsigned values and sent as nonsensical power limits to the SMU. This could cause incorrect power limit settings. The issue has been fixed by rejecting negative values with an invalid argument error, preserving valid positive writes.
