AI-suggested
A fix for this vulnerability is available and has been applied in the affected Linux kernel versions. Users should update to the patched kernel versions listed by their distribution. Since this is not a cloud service, remediation depends on applying the official kernel updates. No additional mitigation steps are indicated beyond applying the vendor-provided patches.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's BPF XDP subsystem allowed bypassing certain program checks when updating XDP links. Specifically, the function bpf_xdp_link_update() called dev_xdp_install() directly, skipping checks normally performed in dev_xdp_attach(). This could allow a user to swap in an offloaded or device-bound XDP program improperly, potentially leading to high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The issue has been resolved by moving the program checks into dev_xdp_install().
