AI-suggested

A fix is available and has been applied in Linux kernel versions including 7.2-rc6 and later. Users should update to a patched kernel version that includes this fix. Since this is a kernel vulnerability, applying the official kernel updates from the vendor or distribution is the recommended remediation. No additional mitigations are specified beyond applying the official fix.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ksmbd component allowed access control entries (ACEs) in a discretionary access control list (DACL) to be parsed beyond the declared DACL size during SMB2_CREATE access validation. This could enable unauthorized access by accepting access-granting ACEs placed beyond the DACL boundary. The issue was fixed by bounding ACE walks by the declared DACL size, aligning with other server components.
