AI-suggested
A fix for this vulnerability has been implemented in the Linux kernel. Users should apply the updated kernel versions that include the patch to ensure the delay state is properly cleared when freeing policy data. Since this is a kernel-level fix, upgrading to the patched kernel versions is the recommended remediation.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's blk-iocost subsystem causes the block cgroup to remain marked as congested indefinitely due to improper clearing of delay state when freeing policy data. This leads to persistent congestion status for all tasks in the affected cgroup and its descendants, which can degrade I/O performance by limiting readahead and throttling anonymous folio allocation. The issue has been resolved by explicitly clearing the delay state after removing the policy data and canceling timers.
