AI-suggested

A fix for this vulnerability has been implemented in the Linux kernel by explicitly clearing the delay state after freeing the policy data and canceling the associated timers. Users should apply the official kernel updates that include this fix to resolve the issue. No additional mitigations are indicated.

Description

CVE-2026-90182 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's blk-iocost subsystem where the delay state is not properly cleared when freeing policy data. This causes the block cgroup to remain marked as congested indefinitely, affecting all tasks in that cgroup and its descendants by throttling I/O operations such as readahead and anonymous folio allocation. The issue is resolved by explicitly clearing the delay state after removing the policy data and canceling timers.
