AI-suggested

A fix has been implemented in the Linux kernel to clear the delay state properly when freeing policy data in the blk-iolatency subsystem. Users should apply the updated kernel versions that include this fix. Patch status is not explicitly stated in the provided data; therefore, verify with the vendor or distribution advisory for the latest remediation guidance.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's blk-iolatency subsystem causes improper clearing of delay state when freeing policy data. This results in a cgroup's congestion count remaining elevated indefinitely, causing all tasks in that cgroup and its descendants to be treated as congested. Consequently, I/O operations such as readahead and anonymous folio allocation are throttled unnecessarily. The issue has been resolved by clearing the delay state properly during policy data free operations.
