A fix for this vulnerability has been implemented in the Linux kernel. Users should update to the patched kernel versions provided by their distribution to remediate this issue. No additional mitigation is required beyond applying the official fix.

Description

A use-after-free vulnerability was identified and fixed in the ALSA core component of the Linux kernel in the snd_card_do_free() function. The flaw occurs when a sound card managed by devres is unbound while a user-space application still holds an open file descriptor, leading to a race condition where memory is freed prematurely and then accessed. This triggers a Kernel Address Sanitizer (KASAN) use-after-free error. The fix involves caching the managed flag before signaling completion to prevent dereferencing freed memory.
