AI-suggested

A fix has been implemented to release the device reference correctly on busy detach in the Linux kernel. Users should apply the updated kernel versions that include this fix. Patch status is not explicitly stated in the provided data; therefore, verify with the vendor or distribution advisory for the latest remediation guidance.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's MTD UBI subsystem was resolved where a device reference was not properly released on a busy detach operation. The function ubi_detach_mtd_dev() obtained a device reference before checking if the UBI device was busy, and in the busy return path, the device reference was left held, preventing the device object from being released after detach. This issue has been fixed by dropping the device reference before returning an error.
