A fix has been implemented in the Linux kernel to release descriptor pools properly on probe failure. Users should update to a patched kernel version that includes this fix. Since this is a kernel-level issue, upgrading the kernel to a fixed version is the recommended remediation.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's nvme-pci driver causes a memory leak of DMA descriptor pools on probe failure. The issue arises because descriptor DMA pools allocated per NUMA node are not released properly if the probe fails after the admin tag set allocation. This flaw has been resolved by ensuring descriptor pools are released in the error path without causing double-free errors during normal teardown.
