A fix has been implemented in the Linux kernel to address this issue. Users should update to a patched kernel version that includes this fix. Since this is a kernel-level vulnerability, applying the official kernel updates from the Linux distribution vendor is the recommended remediation.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's BPF subsystem caused a leak of the mmap_lock read lock due to improper handling of deferred unlocks in the irq_work path. This issue could lead to a read lock being leaked and blocking the exit_mmap() function. The flaw was fixed by reserving the per-CPU slot before attempting to acquire the mmap_read_trylock() and ensuring proper release of the reservation on trylock failure, preventing reuse of the irq_work slot while busy.
