A fix is available that addresses the unbalanced runtime PM references by adding state checks and improving error handling. Users should update to the patched Linux kernel versions to resolve this issue.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's IIO core for the gp2ap002 light sensor driver causes unbalanced runtime power management (PM) references when the same event enable attribute value is written multiple times. This can lead to a runtime PM usage count underflow warning or prevent the device from suspending properly. The issue is fixed by checking if the requested state matches the current state before proceeding and improving error propagation during resume attempts.
