A fix for this deadlock vulnerability has been applied in the linux-hwe-edge kernel versions listed. Users should upgrade to these fixed kernel versions to resolve the issue. No additional mitigation steps are indicated or required beyond applying the updated kernel.
Description
A deadlock vulnerability in the Linux kernel's Btrfs filesystem defragmentation code has been resolved. The issue occurs when defrag and delayed allocation (delalloc) space reservation interact, leading to a deadlock during filesystem stress tests with autodefrag and flushoncommit enabled. This deadlock arises because defrag reserves delalloc space while holding dirty and locked folios and the extent range lock. Multiple kernel worker threads can become stuck in a deadlock state, impacting system stability.
