A fix has been implemented by removing the redundant read call in the qla2xxx driver. Users should update to a patched Linux kernel version that includes this fix. Since this is a kernel-level issue, applying the official kernel updates for the affected versions is the recommended remediation.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's qla2xxx SCSI driver involved a redundant flash read operation in the sysfs read path. The function qla2x00_sysfs_read_vpd() called ha->isp_ops->read_optrom() twice, with the second call occurring without holding the optrom_mutex, exposing flash access to concurrent operations. This redundant call was removed to resolve the issue.
