A fix for this vulnerability is available. Users should update affected Linux kernel versions to the patched releases where this issue is resolved. Specific patched versions are not listed here; check vendor advisories for exact fixed versions.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's tty subsystem causes a NULL-pointer dereference when the tty device registration fails before a character device (cdev) is allocated. This occurs because the removal process calls cdev_del() with a NULL cdev slot. The issue has been resolved by ensuring cdev_del() is only called when the cdev slot is not NULL.
