AI-suggested
A fix is available that addresses the vulnerability by correcting the data types used for channel number and operating class in CSA parsing. Users should apply the official patches or updates from their Linux kernel vendor to remediate this issue. Since this is a kernel-level fix, upgrading to a patched kernel version is the recommended mitigation.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's mac80211 wifi component causes improper handling of channel switch announcements (CSA) to channel 0. The flaw arises from treating channel zero as equivalent to no information, leading to failure to disconnect from an access point advertising a switch to this invalid channel. On Intel devices, this can cause a firmware crash. The issue is fixed by changing the channel number and operating class to use an integer type and a negative value to indicate absence of information.
