AI-suggested

A fix is available in the Linux kernel. The vulnerability is resolved by skipping the hif2 WED setup when the primary WED device is not active. Users should update to a Linux kernel version that includes the fix identified by the commits d566387df8306257d2f703a0d99fd9896400317e, 76144da3c6184c7850631ad79d0600ac8bf7649a, 9d1fd637336588d8118c104a025eca1341d9ec85, or 7c1924332e986019c6bcddf55c843361cccac73f.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's mt76 wireless driver for the mt7996 device was fixed by preventing the attachment of the hif2 WED for the secondary PCIe function when the main WED attach fails. Previously, if the primary WED attach failed, the secondary function's hif2 WED was still attached, causing an inconsistent device state that could lead to a crash. The fix skips the hif2 WED setup if the primary WED device is inactive.
