AI-suggested

A fix for this vulnerability has been implemented in the Linux kernel. Users should update to patched kernel versions that address the clearing of stale link state and MLD index masks during full chip resets. Patch status is not explicitly confirmed in the provided data; therefore, check the vendor or distribution advisory for the latest remediation guidance.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's mt76 wifi driver for the mt7996 chipset causes stale link state to persist after a full chip reset. This leads to the device becoming inoperative due to failure in re-creating necessary link and station records. Additionally, repeated full resets leak allocated MLD indices, eventually exhausting index space.
