A fix has been implemented in the Linux kernel to address this issue. Users should update to patched kernel versions that include this fix. Specific affected versions are listed and should be upgraded. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's mt76 WiFi driver caused out-of-bounds memory access during MMIO copy operations. The functions mt76_mmio_write_copy() and mt76_mmio_read_copy() incorrectly handle lengths not divisible by four, leading to reads or writes beyond buffer boundaries. This issue has been fixed by copying the aligned portion in a loop and handling the remaining bytes with a bounce buffer to maintain register access width.
