A fix has been implemented in the Linux kernel to address this issue by remapping the MLD_ID in the TXD to prevent the firmware busy loop. Users should update to the patched kernel versions listed or later to remediate this vulnerability.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's mt76 wifi driver for the mt7996 chipset causes a firmware busy loop due to improper handling of the MLD_ID field in MAC TXD and HIF TXP. This occurs when the MLD_ID is neither the primary nor secondary link ID, leading to MCU command timeouts and persistent error logs. The issue is resolved by remapping frames directed to a third link to the primary link's wcid for proper packet tracking and accounting.
