A fix is available that removes the WARN_ON_ONCE condition and silently discards invalid frames. Users should update to a patched Linux kernel version that includes this fix to prevent kernel panics caused by corrupted wifi frames.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's mt76 wifi driver (mt76x02) was resolved that caused kernel panics when receiving corrupted frames in monitor mode with the fcsfail filter enabled. The issue arises because corrupted frames can report a length larger than the received buffer, triggering a WARN_ON_ONCE condition that panics the kernel if panic_on_warn is set. The fix drops the WARN and silently discards such frames to prevent kernel panics.
