A patch is available and should be applied by updating to the fixed Linux kernel versions provided by the vendor. Ubuntu has released updated kernel packages addressing this and other vulnerabilities. After updating, a system reboot is required. Due to ABI changes, third-party kernel modules must be recompiled and reinstalled. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's i3c subsystem (dw-i3c-master driver) causes a shift-out-of-bounds error when the Dynamic Address Assignment (DAA) process assigns no devices on an empty bus. This triggers a UBSAN (Undefined Behavior Sanitizer) error during system boot on affected hardware. The issue has been fixed in updated Linux kernel packages.
