AI-suggested

A fix has been implemented in the Linux kernel to address this issue by breaking out of the infinite loop when a terminal error (-EROFS) is encountered. Users should apply the official kernel updates that include this fix. Patch status is not explicitly confirmed in the provided data; therefore, check the vendor advisory or Linux kernel release notes for the specific fixed versions and update accordingly.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's nilfs2 filesystem code caused an infinite loop in the nilfs_clean_segments() function when the device was remounted as read-only after an I/O error. This occurred because the function did not properly exit the loop upon receiving a terminal error (-EROFS) from nilfs_segctor_construct(). The issue has been fixed by modifying the code to break out of the loop on this error condition.
