Technical Analysis

WWBN AVideo, as of commit c3edcc274c389816d434acadac07ee78eaf330c1, fails to enforce authorization checks on the video_from_program API endpoint. This flaw permits unauthenticated users to query the API and retrieve sensitive information about private playlists and their contents without any authentication or permission verification.

Potential Impact

Attackers can access private playlist metadata and video titles, including password-protected content, without authentication. This leads to unauthorized disclosure of potentially sensitive or private information. However, there is no indication of further exploitation such as modification or deletion of data.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. No official fix or patch links are provided in the available data. Until a fix is available, restrict access to the affected API endpoint if possible or implement external access controls to prevent unauthenticated queries.
