Medium
Published: 09/14/2026 (09/14/2026, 00:31:28 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Product: embedded-graphics

Description

A weakness has been identified in embedded-graphics up to 0.8.2 on 32-bit. Impacted is the function ImageRaw::new/bytes_per_row of the file src/image/image_raw.rs. This manipulation causes integer overflow. The attack is possible to be carried out remotely. Upgrading the affected component is recommended. The project was informed of the problem early through an issue report but has not responded yet.

Technical Analysis

An integer overflow vulnerability has been identified in the embedded-graphics library up to version 0.8.2 on 32-bit architectures. The issue affects the ImageRaw::new/bytes_per_row function in src/image/image_raw.rs, where manipulation causes an integer overflow. The vulnerability is remotely exploitable. The project was notified early via an issue report but has not yet provided a fix or response.

Potential Impact

The integer overflow may lead to incorrect calculations in image processing, potentially causing memory corruption or application instability. The vulnerability is remotely exploitable, which increases the risk of exploitation. However, no known exploits are reported in the wild at this time.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrading the embedded-graphics component to a fixed version is recommended once available. Currently, no official patch or vendor advisory has been published. Users should monitor the project for updates and apply fixes promptly when released.
