Product: Schema & Structured Data for WP & AMP

Description

The Schema & Structured Data for WP & AMP WordPress plugin before version 1.60 contains a critical vulnerability that allows unauthenticated users to upload arbitrary file types via frontend AJAX handlers. Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-9067 is a critical vulnerability in the Schema & Structured Data for WP & AMP WordPress plugin prior to version 1.60. The plugin's frontend AJAX file-upload endpoints fail to check user permissions and do not validate the actual content of uploaded files against the endpoint's intended media type. This flaw permits unauthenticated attackers to upload any file type accepted by WordPress's media library, potentially leading to arbitrary file upload and subsequent compromise. The vulnerability is classified under CWE-434 (Unrestricted Upload of File with Dangerous Type).

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows unauthenticated attackers to upload arbitrary files, including potentially malicious scripts, to the affected WordPress site. This can lead to remote code execution or site compromise, as indicated by the high CVSS score (9.1) with high confidentiality and integrity impact. Availability impact is not affected. No known exploits in the wild have been reported at this time.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict access to the affected endpoints via web application firewall rules or other access controls to prevent unauthenticated file uploads. Monitor for updates from the plugin vendor and apply any official patches promptly once released.
